Croatia

Enthralling history set amid beautiful natural surroundings

Discover this beautiful country on the Adriatic Sea, with its dazzling nature, azure blue bays, crystal-clear seas and awe-inspiring waterfalls.
Day 1
We set off on our flight to Zagreb. We are met at the airport and taken to our hotel in Zagreb. This is the biggest city in Croatia and also the capital. It lies on the river Sava at the foot of Medvednica mountain.

Day 2
After breakfast, we visit the capital on an exciting journey through the present and the past. The longest street, Llica, separates the old upper city from the more modern lower city. We take the cable car to visit places including St Mark’s Church, the Lotrscak tower, the cathedral and streets that are still lit by gas lamps. On our journey we visit the oldest parts of the city, Gradec and Kaptol, and well as Dolac market square.

We take lunch together, after which you are free to explore Zagreb on your own for a while.

At 4.00 pm, we leave the capital and drive to Plitvice Lakes, which is where we will be staying the night.

Day 3
The Plitvice Lakes National Park is probably the most beautiful and most inspiring natural park in Croatia, with its 16 lakes, countless waterfalls and untouched forests.

We eat lunch together. After we have visited this wonderful park, we leave for Lovran, where we will be staying for the next three nights.

Day 4:
After breakfast, we set out for lovely Istria. This peninsula has been conquered many times and all of the various cultures have left their traces behind. As we drive through the province, we discover the ‘green Istria’, with its forests, valleys and hills, dotted with ruins and bell towers. There are also plenty of vineyards with a reputation for good wines.

During a short walk through Pula we discover the imposing Roman arena and surrounded by Istrian atmosphere, we also discover the local cuisine. In Rovinj we visit the basilica of Saint Euphemia, from where we have wonderful views of the islands of Rovinj.

Day 5:
The islands of Cres and Losinj date from 12 000 BC, when Kvarner Bay was flooded with the melting of the ice mass. From Opatija and Rabac we visit the island of Cres, while from Crikvenica and Novi Vinodolski we visit the island of Krk. During a delicious fish picnic you will enjoy the unspoilt natural surroundings and the cultural heritage.

Day 6:
Aboard a tourist train on the island of Big Brijun you will see the archaeological discoveries and remains of various cultures, while at the same time you are surrounded by the fragrance of centuries-old pine trees and the wonderful harmony of colours created by the sea, air, rocks and forests. We all take lunch together.

Our stay in Croatia is not almost over and after lunch we head back to the airport in Zagreb for our return flight.
