Art and architecture
The university city of "Louvain-la-Neuve" can be said to be surprising from both a town planning as architectural point of view.
Louvain-la-Neuve was built in line with the ideals of Leonardo da Vinci. During a two-hour walk through the town, you can either approach it from an architectural point of view, or else go looking for contemporary art in the streetscape of the city under the direction of an art historian.
In the afternoon you can chose between two activities. Option one is to discover the architectural jewel of the 'Hergé Museum'. This amazing building, designed by the architect Christian de Portzamparc, is a little like a holy grail hidden in the forest. You also have the opportunity to journey through the work of one of the greatest artists of the 20th century.
Option two is to delve into the artistic worlds of Musée L, with its collection of artworks, natural history objects and archeological and ethnographical items, as well as various machines and inventions with a scientific background.
